6 bottle box - Off The Beaten Track

Why not push yourself out of your comfort zone with this superb box of wines from Bulgaria and Hungary. In your box you will find:

- 2 x FUNKY MAVRUD ROSÉ Pet Nat, Bulgaria : This is all the rage at the moment, a lightly sparkling wine referred to as Pet Nat. The technique involves some fermentation in the bottle and then bottle ageing before disgorgement. The wine uses the indigenous grape Mavrud, which produces a lovely pale pink, slightly cloudy (please don’t be put off!!) wine. A really fabulous alternative to a sparkling wine which we are so excited to have on our list!

- 2 x Melnik 55, Bulgaria: This rich savoury wine from the Struma Valley in Bulgaria was a favourite with Sir Winston Churchill, demanding annual shipments to 10 Downing Street! And yes we can see why… a lovely powerful wine with wild herbs and a leathery undertone, using the indigenous grape Melnik.

- 2 x Dry Tokaj, Hungary: Many of us associate Tokaj with sweet wine, but in Hungary Tokaj is more synonymus with a fresh, dry white wine with great minerality. This particular wine (70% Furmint), has a slight saline undertone making it a perfect pairing with a seafood risotto!
